If you're looking for the biggest name in hat design, look no further than Philip Treacy. Since he graduated with first class honours from the Royal College of Art in London, Treacy's designs have been worn by everyone from Kate Middleton, to Lady Gaga, to Madonna. He also played a major role in the Royal Wedding in 2011, as more than five dozen of his creations were on display during the ceremony. Among them was the fascinator that Princess Beatrice of York wore and the headdress that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, wore.
The big names don't stop there, though. Treacy has also designed hats for Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Donna Karan. And, his work has been featured in major motion pictures, including Harry Potter.
Amazingly, Treacy's career began in the basement of Isabella Blow's house! But once his millinery label began making the rounds, it didn't take long for him to become a bonafide fashion icon. In fact, Treacy has become such a force in the fashion industry that he was even honored with his own Irish postage stamp back in 2010.
His philosophy? That hats are empowering. Bright colors and bold designs should make you feel good as you celebrate the special moments in your life. That's why he designs hats that are so unique that he's often called the "Marvelous Mad Milliner"!
